Our Philosophy


At CrossFit Fort Wayne, we believe that fitness is more than just trying to force oneself through a workout a few times a week.

It is actually fundamental to living a fulfilling life. We work out to be strong, have energy, be healthy, reduce stress, and just be happier. We believe that the fitter a person is, the more they are physically able to do whatever brings joy and fun to their life, regardless of their background, experience, age, or gender.

As proof, CrossFitters come from all walks of life.

They are stay-at-home moms, business executives, doctors, police officers, firefighters, and grandparents. At CrossFit Fort Wayne, we use constantly varied, short and intense workouts to help our clients achieve physical competence in each of 10 recognized fitness domains (endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy).

What You Will Find

You won’t find rows of treadmills and weight machines, mirrors, and fancy sports drinks. Instead you will find pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells, and plenty of space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting, and throwing. The muscles in our bodies are designed to work as systems, and to yield the most effective results, we will train that way. Your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life, or sport. Each day’s workout is scalable to suit your fitness level, whether you’ve been involved in fitness all your life or are just starting.  Our classes generally consist of a warm-up, a skills set/effort lifting, a 10-20 minute intense workout, and then a cool down.  With our constantly varied programming, you will never get bored!

How We’re Different

Have you ever been to a gym where the client relies on their trainer to walk with them from one exercise machine to another? Have you ever noticed that there is really no coaching or training happening? Unlike most fitness facilities, we care whether or not you succeed and reach your goals. At CrossFit Fort Wayne, we teach you new skills that require you to use your entire body and mind. You’ll be challenged in ways that enable you to achieve results you never thought possible. If you’re willing to work hard, you will not only look better, but more importantly, you’ll feel better, have more confidence, and enjoy an incredible sense of accomplishment.

We use a mixture of kettlebell training, Olympic weightlifting, calisthenics, power-lifting, gymnastics, rowing, running and jumping rope. Our workouts are timed so that you can track your progress. You’ll also never workout alone. Every time you work out you will train with a coach so that you learn and execute the exercise correctly. And better yet, you’ll have fun doing it; our group classes foster camaraderie and healthy competition, which make you more motivated and the workouts more engaging. The workouts we provide are always varied so that your body will constantly have to adapt and you’ll experience dramatic results.

Exercise Selection

Do you remember Mary Lou Retton? She is one of the most popular American gymnasts of all time and won five medals atthe 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. What made her so special was her ability to train her body to garnish the flexibility, coordination, agility, and balance to an elite level of fitness through the use of compound or functional movements. You may never know it, but many gymnasts never use bicep curl or leg extension machines.

Weight machines like leg extensions were created to isolate one specific muscle. In real life, your body rarely uses one muscle at a time but rather multiple muscles at a time. At CrossFit Fort Wayne you’ll never do a leg extension or lat pull down. We choose exercises that require your body to use multiple muscles groups at once such as the squat, dead lift, pull-up, push-up, and the clean.
