FAQ

Is this a gym?

We’re not like Anytime Fitness or your traditional gym. You can’t come in and just do your own thing. We are a training facility. You don’t pay us to use the equipment; you pay us to teach you and get results. What you’re getting is a lot of coaching and the group experience. We’re kind of like a sports team, except that CrossFit is our sport.

Is CrossFit for me?

One of the greatest things about CrossFit is that it can be scaled at any level and modified for any need. It is perfect for any committed individual regardless of age, fitness ability, or experience.

I'm already super fit. Can't I just begin at your group classes?

Do you know what a thruster is, a sumo deadlift high pull, or how to squat with perfect form? We want you to perform these movements in a way that is safe and that will give you the best results. These are things you need to learn before entering our group classes.

What should I expect to see when I arrive for the first time?

You won’t see any treadmills, elliptical trainers, isolated movement machines, mirrors, TVs, or a sauna. Instead you’ll see a large open space with plenty of area to do squats, lifts, pull-ups, burpees, box jumps, and all sorts of other exercises we do.

What will I be doing in a CrossFit class?

Each class session is about an hour long. It begins with a warm-up, followed by a skills set or effort lifting, the workout of the day (WOD), and a cool-down.

What results can I expect to see?

You will improve your stamina and build muscle. You’ll feel better, look better, and have more energy. Regular activities like using the stairs or bringing in groceries will be easier.

What's with all these abbreviations?

WOD = Workout of the Day

AMRAP = As Many Rounds As Possible

5x5x5x5x5 = 5 repetitions completed 5 times

What's Olympic lifting?

It’s the snatch and the clean and jerk. These lifts require a lot of practice to develop solid technique, but they develop your explosive power like nothing else can. Although it is what you see strong guys doing at the Olympics, it’s not only for Olympians. We teach you how to do the moves correctly and how to drop the weight safely. If your lift goes bad, we want you to drop the weight. That’s why we have rubber bumper plates; your safety is our utmost priority.

What if I don't want to be in a group class?

We recognize that group classes aren’t for everyone. As a result, we offer private training sessions that are tailored specifically for you.

I train at another CrossFit facility and will be in town. Can I drop in on a class?

We would love for you to join us. Call or e-mail to let us know when to expect you. We kindly ask that you do not just drop in! Our fee for traveling CrossFitters is $15/class.
